Core Grant Program

The Foundation’s Core Grant Program makes annual general operating and program support grants up to $10,000 for organizations providing services in Montgomery, Chester, Delaware and Bucks counties in Southeastern Pennsylvania.

Organizations that are based in and only serve communities outside these four counties are not eligible to participate in the Foundation’s Core Grant Program, unless invited to apply by a Foundation Board member. Grants made to organizations based in and serving Philadelphia will now be made by invitation only through the Philadelphia Fund.

Generally, first-time applicants to the Core Grant Program are encouraged to apply for program support. If an organization has received Foundation funding in the past, general operating requests are welcomed.

Core Grant Program requests are considered once annually in the fall cycle. All applicants must submit an online letter of inquiry (LOI) between June 1 and June 30 to be considered for funding, regardless of whether or not the organization has been previously funded. Only those organizations whose letters of inquiry have been approved will be invited to submit full proposals.

The 2013 Core Grant Cycle is currently underway; no additional proposals are being accepted at this time.  Decisions for the 2013 Core Grant Cycle will be announced in March 2013. The next opportunity to apply to the Core Grant cycle is June 1-30, 2013 (see below).

2014 Core Grant Cycle key dates are as follows:
  • June 1-30, 2013: Letters of Inquiry (LOIs) accepted
  • September 1, 2013: Full proposals (if invited) are due
  • March 2014: Decisions announced
  • February 1, 2015: Follow-up reports due for grants received in 2014 cycle

For all grant programs, the Genuardi Family Foundation only accepts applications via its online application system.
This automation includes all stages of the application process: initial letters of inquiry, full applications, grant agreements and follow-up grant reports. We no longer process paper copies of these documents.

All deadlines are firm. Letters of inquiry and proposals submitted after their respective deadlines will not be accepted. All organizations interested in applying should consult our Eligibility Requirements to ensure they meet the Foundation’s guidelines prior to submitting a letter of inquiry.

Each year the Foundation is able to fund only a fraction of the requests that are reviewed. A denial of funding is not necessarily a reflection of the program or proposal, but is the result of a highly competitive process.

Please note: If your organization has been a past applicant or grantee, you should have login credentials already established in our online grant database. PLEASE (pretty please!) don’t create a new organizational profile to reapply. If you do not know your organization’s username and password, please contact us; we are happy to help.

We now offer tutorials to help applicants navigate our online application system.  You can:
